Lincolnshire based kart racing champion Jack
Harvey was unable to make it three wins from three events at the weekend, when
he suffered from mechanical problems during the latest round of the
MSA British Super One Championship at Rowrah in
Cumbria.
The newly crowned CIK
FIA Asia Pacific KF2 champion had headed to the
event full of confidence after picking up a superb victory last weekend in
Belgium. However, despite setting some
impressive times in the run up to the heats, Jack was unable to challenge for
outright victory as he struggled to find the absolute
limit.
Despite the set-back, the 15
year-old Newark Steel backed racer was able to pick up a couple of good results
in his heats and managed to take fifth place in the first of the two finals. In
the second event he got away well and moved up to fourth in the early laps, but
was then forced to pull into the pits with mechanical problems, putting him out
of the race.
With his run of podium results
temporarily halted Jack was left frustrated but philosophical about the
weekend.
“When we got here and first
took to the track on Friday everything wasn’t too bad, but we still struggled to
find the limit everywhere,” he said. “The team had a think and we tried some new
things over the weekend but I still wasn’t able to run right on the front
running pace.
“I had a good race in the
first final and hoped that I could make it into a podium finish in the second,
but I picked up a problem not long into the race and I was forced to pull in. It
was a shame as I had hoped to come here and go for another victory, but I’ve had
a great couple of weekends recently and this was down to something that was out
of our hands,” he added.
“I’m going to get ready for my
next event, which is the European Championship qualifying event next month. I’m
going over there aiming to repeat what I did last year and be the top qualifier
for the finals later in the year.”
