James Thompson has won the third of today’s (Sunday) three Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship rounds at his home circuit of Croft in North Yorkshire.
Thompson, from Harrogate, quickly moved past Vauxhall’s Gavin Smith, who started from pole position, to draw clear for a comfortable victory in his SEAT Leon.
Smith then span down the field so Team RAC’s Colin Turkington came through to finish second while reigning champion and current points leader Matt Neal forced his Team Halfords Honda past Jason Plato’s SEAT at the final bend to finish third.
Team Halfords’ Gordon Shedden, who enjoyed a spell in second before suffering a punctured tyre, set the race’s fast lap time.
