French Grand Prix - Race PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 22 June 2008

The AT&T Williams team return home from a fruitless weekend in France with neither driver able to secure points in today’s French Grand Prix. Kazuki Nakajima brought his FW30 home in the same position in which he started the race, 15th.

At a disadvantage from the outset due to his ten-place penalty which put him on the last row of the grid, Nico Rosberg drove a clean race on a one stop strategy to finish 16th. With a two week gap before its home Grand Prix and a test at the Silverstone track, the team will return to Grove to assess its performance with a view to a more productive British Grand Prix.

Kazuki Nakajima:

It was a difficult race for us. We decided to go for a two stop strategy, which was the best direction to take under the circumstances. All weekend we’ve been suffering with a lack of pace and that hurt us during the race. We couldn’t have done much better today.

Nico Rosberg:

In Canada, I was fighting the Ferraris and the BMWs, and here I was fighting at the back of the pack. It’s incredible, and not a very nice feeling. I thought I would be able to fight a bit more; I was giving it my all as usual, but the car simply didn’t have the speed and it was very difficult. I am now looking to score some points at Silverstone - at least I won’t have a grid penalty there!

Obviously that was a very mediocre performance. From here, we must go away and try to understand our mistakes and put them right to come out fighting at Silverstone because I am sure that we can do better than we managed today.
