Courage Competition To Start Second Row On Yokohama Advan PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 15 July 2006
Courage Competition put in an excellent performance here at the German Nurburgring circuit today for the 1000km of the Nurburgring. Initially the two cars held first and second positions until the competition hotted up with their final grid slots being third for the Nakano/Kurosawa pairing and sixth for Gounon/Frei/Fisken.

The GT2 runners had a tougher time. The class is by far the most competitive with a commendable 18 entrants. After their very good run on Yokohama ADVAN at Le Mans Pierre Ehret and Dominik Farnbacher were the fastest Yokohama time-setters giving them a third row start on the grid. Farnbacher Racing team-mates Nielsen, Seefried and Baas start in 13th with the Seikel Motorsport entry set to start tenth in class.

The six hour race starts at 11.45 on tomorrow (Sunday) local/ CET. Extensive coverage to follow the progress of the Yokohama teams is shown on Motors TV.

Shinji Nakano, Courage Competition #13 “We had some problems in the morning session so we couldn’t learn much. The team fixed it and I started to push in session two but I had to relearn the track. It’s my first time here since I drove in Formula One but the track is different now. By the end of the second session we found a pretty good qualifying set-up. The tyres were good – very very consistent - so we’re looking good for the race tomorrow.”

Akira Shiraishi, Yokohama Motorsport “The competition is very fierce in GT2 so I’m happy that our teams have put in very credible times. The Courage Competition cars performed well too and being third and sixth on the grid bodes well for good results tomorrow. The pace and performance is obviously there.”
