A1 Team Great Britain’s Katie Clements has been unveiled in Wrigley Airwaves new ‘Airwaves Pro’ line-up alongside British Superbike riders Shane Byrne and Leon Camier, and World Rally Championship driver Matthew Wilson.
A1 Team GBR’s Team Principal Katie Clements has been signed by Airwaves as one of four motorsport star names to front a new look ‘Airwaves Pro’ campaign, which aims to inspire and empower people to ‘KICK UP A GEAR’ and enable consumers to ‘live their dream’.
Katie who, at 29-years-old, is the only female Team Principal in top level motor racing as she leads GBR in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, joins current British Superbike championship leader Shane Byrne in the campaign, who rides for the Airwaves Ducati team, Byrne’s young team-mate Leon Camier, and Matthew Wilson, who is the only British driver currently competing in the World Rally Championship.
Wrigley Airwaves is the UK’s second best-selling gum brand and has been involved in motor sport sponsorship since 2005, when the brand became the title sponsor of the GSE Racing Ducati British Superbike Team. Previous sports stars involved in the ‘Airwaves Pro’ campaign include England rugby star Lewis Moody and cricketer Liam Plunkett.
The Wrigley Company is the world’s leading manufacturer of chewing and bubblegum and is also a major player in the worldwide confectionary industry. Airwaves is just one of the Wrigley brands available in the UK.
Katie led GBR to a third consecutive third-place championship finish in the last season of A1GP, which wrapped up at Brands Hatch in May, with the British entry once again achieving victory on home soil in the season finale. Katie’s squad created a piece of series history when they became the first A1GP team to win on home soil a year earlier at Brands Hatch in May 2007.
Katie Clements, Team Principal, A1 Team GBR: “I am delighted to join Shane, Leon and Matthew as an Airwaves Pro and am very excited to be getting involved in the ‘KICK UP A GEAR’ campaign. I am honoured to line up next to some of Britain’s most talented motorsport names today, we are all living our dreams doing the jobs that we are, so it seems appropriate that in this campaign we can encourage
consumers to live theirs.”
Toby Baker, Wrigley Marketing Director: “Airwaves is delighted to welcome Shane, Leon, Matthew and Katie as Airwaves Pros. We’re excited about the potential that they provide for the campaign, and we can’t wait to get started working with them. Motorsport is of a high interest to many of our consumers and has close brand values, so fits perfectly with our ‘KICK UP A GEAR’ brand vision. It’s also a diverse
sport and we feel we have a great mix of Pros that will engage and excite our consumers. The Airwaves Pro campaign will be supported with high profile media partnerships and PR activity to showcase the Airwaves Pros and also to provide numerous enablement opportunities for consumers to ‘live their dream’.”
