Britek scholarship eye victory at Queensland race way PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 16 July 2008
The Britek Motorsport Scholarship will be one of the favourites as its heads to the fifth round of the Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship at Queensland Raceway.

The Minda Motorsport-run team of Adam Graham (Lismore, NSW) in the Steggles / McLaughlin Freightlines #66, Martin Swindells (Brisbane, Qld) in the Refrigerated Rental & Sales entry and Ben Walter (Hobart, Tas) in the Road Solutions entry are a formidable line-up.

All three drivers tested at the circuit earlier in the year with Graham being the fastest overall of all the teams.

The multiple Australian karting champion has driven numerous cars around the Queensland Raceway, including hundreds in a Formula Ford.

“I’m really looking forward to this round,” said Graham.

“I have been satisfied with my form on other tracks this year, but at Queensland Raceway I know that I have to really step-up.

“The test earlier this year was very positive and I feel that the whole team can go well.

“The competition will be very tough and we expect one of the largest fields of the year. This means that any mistake will set you a long way back. I’m sure that if we keep our heads we can justifiably look at winning the round.”

Minda Motorsport Team Principal Bruin Beasley is confident of getting all three Britek Motorsport entries in the top-10.

“Adam for sure and Martin has competed on numerous occasions at the circuit in the Queensland Formula Ford Series,” said Beasley.

“I’ve also been very pleased with the great improvement from Ben Walter.

“Victory is clearly the goal, but it would be more pleasing to have all the cars up towards the pointy end.

“The Britek Scholarship program has been excellent on so many levels this year; it would be very satisfying if we could get the big trophy in Queensland.

Crews hit the track for practice Friday, before qualifying and the opening race on Saturday. The final two races of the weekend will be contested on Sunday.

Overseen by V8 Superstar and driver of the #25 Fujitsu Racing Ford Falcon, Jason Bright, the Britek Motorsport Scholarship is a reciprocal business relationship that provides a structured staircase opportunity to aspiring career-path drivers.

The program caters for Karters and aspiring open-wheel drivers that want to move into V8 Supercars or pursue a career overseas.
