The
all-female electric string quartet who played to an audience of 14 million
on the hit ITV show were immediately snapped up by judge Simon Cowell with
whom they signed a multi million pound international recording
contract.
eScala
were classically trained at the Guildhall School of Music,
Royal
Academy
and Royal College of Music and have spent years of intense work honing
their skills. They formed as a group two years ago when touring as part of
the string section of an orchestra and it was there that they became great
friends and decided they wanted to take centre stage themselves and form a
band incorporating both their talent for playing classical music and their
love of contemporary styles.
“We
saw eScala perform on ITV and knew they would be the perfect musical act
to star at the Silverstone Classic,” said Event Director Roger Etcell.
“eScala form part of an exciting line up of musical talent which will add
an important new dimension to the festivals live entertainment.”
eScala
will perform at the Scarf and Goggles stage on Saturday 26 July with two
30-minute performances at 6pm
and 8:30pm.
Live music will be a key feature of the 2008 Silverstone Classic. In
addition to the two performances by eScala, visitors can also enjoy live
music in Scarf & Goggles with ‘Imagine the Beatles’, ‘Soul Convention’
and the ‘Peter O’Donnell Quartet’.
Event
Background
The
annual Silverstone Classic festival will be organised and promoted by
Motion Works UK Limited (MWUK), the company recently licensed by
Silverstone to stage the event for the next five years.
The
annual Silverstone Classic is a celebration of motor racing across all
decades from the 1920s to the 1990s on a current FIA approved circuit and
is not totally historic as it also invites more contemporary races such as
Group C, Saloons and late Formula One cars to be raced and seen in their
appropriate surroundings. Classic Car Owner Clubs from across the
UK and
overseas play an important supporting role in recent years with 4,000 cars
expected this year. The event Auction remains an important landmark and
features such as the Scarf & Goggles meeting area, art & photo
galleries, period air displays, funfairs, themed catering, will be
retained and enhanced, with new attractions being added over the next few
years.
