Ford
Performance Racing has finished second and third in this afternoon’s V8
Supercar Championship Series practice at Queensland Raceway, beating all but
one of the home teams.
Stone
Brothers Racing was quickest but FPR finished ahead of every other Queensland
team, including Triple Eight, Paul Morris Motorsport and Dick Johnson Racing.
The
team hopes today’s result means FPR will maintain its recent momentum,
which has seen the Melbourne-based squad score podiums at every race event so
far this year.
Qualifying
begins tomorrow (Saturday) at 11:35am.

“Half
the teams test here and half test at Winton so this is our equivalent of the
AFL Rivalry round! It’s great to be fast on somebody else’s home
turf! You always come to this particular track expecting the locals to
trounce you because they spend so much time testing here.”

“So
far so good! We obviously came here with a bit of trepidation because
it’s not home turf but clearly that hasn’t been a problem. We had
a programme that we stuck to and the car just got better and better through
the session.”

“This
was one of the tracks we needed to do a lot of work on but, straight out of
the box, we’re second and third fastest. It shows the work we’ve
done in the last 12 months has been in the right direction. Now we only need
to find a little bit tomorrow to be leading the field."
