Confidence ‘never higher’ for BMW ace
Barrow-upon-Humber racer Martyn Bell insists that his confidence is
higher than ever as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship
returns to action at Croft in North Yorkshire this Sunday (16 July).
The six-week break between the fourth and fifth rounds of the season
has allowed Bell and the Geoff Steel Racing team to work hard on
improving the BMW 320i, with tests at Oulton Park and Mallory Park in
recent weeks leaving the whole team optimistic of making steps forward
at the 2.25 mile circuit near Darlington.
“I do believe that we can make a real step forward this weekend,” Bell
explained. “The test at Oulton Park in particular allowed us to make so
much progress and my confidence has never been higher as I go to Croft.
It’s a circuit that I know well and where I have won in the past and
I’m going there with a car that I feel I can really drive and push hard
with.”
As one of his home rounds of the season, Bell is expecting to have
plenty of support to cheer him on, and is keen to reward his fans – the
self-proclaimed 'Bellies Heroes' – with three good results.
“I’m going to have a lot of guests with me at Croft and I want to do
well for the people who have been supporting me,” he said. “Also, Moton
with the suspension, RBM and Schnitzer have all raised their game to
help since Thruxton and I can’t thank then enough for everything they
have done.”
Bell will also have a special guest present at Croft. Keep an eye out for some ‘fishy’ goings-on in the paddock…
