| Fujitsu Racing shows team spirit at Queensland Raceway |

The Fujitsu Racing crew of Jason Bright have shown plenty of fighting spirit to complete the seventh round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series, the City Ipswich 400 at Queensland Raceway. The round was won by fellow Ford driver Mark Winterbottom, who took his second victory of the year and extended his championship points lead. Bright was involved in a heavy accident in race #2 of the weekend, which also caught-up teammate Marcus Marshall (IRWIN Racing) Extensive damage including broken suspension, radiator, steering rack, front and rear bumpers, as well as headlamps and taillights all had to be replaced in just 90-minutes. This was in addition to the damage suffered on the Marshall Ford. Bright brought the Fujitsu Racing Falcon home in 25th position in the final race. This was after his 18th position in race #1 to be classified 26th overall. “I felt that even though we had a disaster in terms of the race results, we have continued to improve the chassis,” said Bright. “The accident in the second race occurred when I tried to run side-by-side with Craig Lowndes, but on the dirty side of the track. I locked the brakes and got into him and then we both spun. Unfortunately others were following pretty closely and those guys, including Marcus, had nowhere to go. “It was important to finish that last race; not only from a sponsor and fan point of view, but also for the crew who put in a huge effort to get the car back on the track. A lot of teams would not have made that last race, but that shows what a fantastic group of guys we have. “Winton will be good for us. It’s our test track and a place I enjoy racing at. Plus it’s not all about power, so with a good handling car I’m sure we can look forward to being a lot more competitive. “I’m more looking forward to the improvements in the next couple of rounds. “It’s hard work right now – but with the additions we have coming I’m very positive heading forward.” Fujitsu Racing Chief Engineer Geoff Slater summed-up a challenging weekend. “That was a very tough weekend,” said Slater. “We just didn’t have the straight-line speed and as a consequence couldn’t make the most of the chassis. “Nothing went our way in the races, but it was very important to bring the car home in the last race. “You can never question the spirit of the team after the effort they put in to get the car back out for the final race. “If there was a track we really wanted to head to it has to be Winton. Not just because it’s our test track, but also because it’s a circuit Jason enjoys and our chassis strengths will really show through.” The next round at the Winton Motor Raceway in Central Victoria will be held on 1-3 August. 2008 V8 Supercar Championship Series Round 7, City of Ipswich 400, Queensland Raceway, Ipswich, Queensland Championship Standings after 7 of 14 rounds 1.
