Top ten for Foster in Queensland PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 20 July 2008
Brisbane teenager Nick Foster has enjoyed a competitive end to round five of the Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship at his local track Queensland Raceway today, placing equal ninth for the round.
An eleventh and tenth in today’s two closing races joined his tenth position from yesterday’s opening race to see the 16 year old and his #13 Steeline Metal Framing Systems Van Diemen finish inside the overall top ten.

Foster was due to debut a new Mygale chassis this weekend, however the team decided to arrive with the Van Diemen after not gaining as much final preparation as they would have liked.

Consistently running in the top ten all weekend meant the year 11 student was able to chalk up more points to his series tally while being the only Van Diemen driver in the highly competitive field.

Nick Percat won the round with three race wins, followed by Kristian Lindbom and Paul Laskazeski. Laskazeski currently holds the championship lead on 222 points with three rounds remaining.

The next round of the Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship will be held at Phillip Island, 12-14 September.

WHAT HE HAD TO SAY…
“Overall, I’m happy with the outcome of the weekend. We came here with the aim of finishing inside the top ten and gaining more championship points, so to achieve that is another good result,” said Foster.

“I qualified in the best position of my career yesterday, which set me up well for the round.

“All weekend I was able to match it with the guys inside the top ten and my times were very good, especially towards the end of the race. In race two my times were comparable to those set by the drivers near the front of the field, which was very pleasing.

“Unfortunately, a few last-minute issues meant that we didn’t debut the new car but given the weekend I have just had I can’t wait to get into the Mygale and move further inside the points.”
