Formula 3 racer Will Bratt has plenty of work to do during tomorrow’s
seventh round of the 2008 FIAT Spanish F3 Championship having endured a
frustrating qualifying session at the brand new Valencia Street Circuit earlier
today, Saturday, 26th July.
At the wheel of his EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport car, 20-year-old Will
had a luckless run during this afternoon’s qualifying session where he
encountered red flags on each of his quick laps. Furthermore, a slight brush
with the retaining wall also affected the handling of his FIAT-powered Dallara
F308 chassis.
Concluding the period with the 16th fastest time of 2m 07.273 seconds
(153.399km/h), the Banbury ace will need all of his race craft to try and record
a points scoring result in the first of the weekend’s races tomorrow morning,
Sunday, 27th July.
More exasperating for Will was the fact he ended this morning’s practice
session with the fourth quickest time, underlining the fact he certainly has the
pace to run at the front at the superb Valencia Street Circuit.
Speaking after round seven qualifying, Will said: “That certainly wasn’t
the session we wanted. Qualifying on row eight means we have a lot of racing to
do tomorrow but I’ll obviously try as hard as possible to score some points and
limit the championship damage as much as possible.
“We know we had the pace to do well in qualifying having been fourth
fastest this morning but I had red flags on every one of my fast laps. It’s very
frustrating but we have to put it behind us now and concentrate on tomorrow’s
races.”
Round seven of the 2008 FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship will take place
at around 10.00 (local time) tomorrow morning, Sunday, 27th July, with the
eighth round expected to follow at approximately 14.00.
The grid for the second of the weekend’s races, of course, will be set from
the finishing order of round seven – with the exception of the top six which
will be reversed. Both encounters will be contested over 16 laps, or to a
maximum duration of 35 minutes, and will be broadcast live on Spanish
television.
