A record crowd turned out in force for this
weekend's HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) event at Oulton Park.
More than 35,000 fans flocked to the Cheshire circuit over the
two days with 30,000 attending on Sunday alone, an increase of over 20% on last
year. Organisers were delighted with the figures that further underline the
strength of the BTCC as the UK's
most popular motor racing series.
The figures are a record for a touring car
event at any MotorSport Vision circuit since MSV took over Oulton Park,
Brands Hatch, Snetterton and Cadwell
Park in 2004. They also
represent the biggest BTCC crowd at any venue for a decade.

Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of
MotorSport Vision, said:
"We are thrilled that the North West public has been able to enjoy a
full weekend of the very best non-stop motor racing action. The BTCC package really
understands what the fans want and there is a real momentum developing around
the championship."
Alan Gow, BTCC Series Director, said:
"MSV has done a great job marketing this
event and we are delighted to have broken all the records for attendances. It's
been a great day of racing, so I'm sure everyone will be back next year when we
come to Oulton Park over the second May Bank Holiday."
