The Airwaves Ducati team travel to Knockhill this weekend for round 8
of the British Superbike Championship with both of its riders
determined to secure more valuable championship points at the 1.27 mile
circuit.
Series leader Shane Byrne has so far this season managed to open up a
99 point lead over his nearest competitor in the championship, but is
keen to get back to his winning ways after a couple of third place
finishes at Oulton Park.
“I came away from the last round quite frustrated as I really wanted to
get another win for the Airwaves Ducati team, but it’s made me more
determined to kick up a gear and get back onto the top step of the
podium. I’ve worked with my engineer on the gearing of my Airwaves
Ducati 1098R so I’m confident we’ll have a good set up for the weekend.
I’ve also been training really hard over the past couple of weeks so
I’m feeling in great shape which is going to be really important over
these last few rounds of the championship.”
Following a heavy fall during qualifying at Oulton Park, Leon Camier
made the difficult decision not to race at the previous round so is
understandably looking forward to getting back into action.
“Oulton Park was a massive disappointment for me but since the moment
we decided not to race, my focus has been on getting back aboard the
Airwaves Ducati. It’s been good to have a few weeks off to fully
recover but I’m glad to be heading to Knockhill. It’s a circuit that I
am confident the Airwaves Ducati can perform well at. My aim this
weekend is to get my championship back on track so I need to secure
some strong results for the Airwaves Ducati team and get onto the
podium.”
Round 8 of the British Superbike Championship takes place on Sunday 10th August.
