The
countdown has begun:
there is now less than two weeks to go before Britain's premier motor
racing series - the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship - arrives
in
Scotland for its annual visit to Knockhill on Sunday 17 August. The
tight and twisty circuit never fails to deliver top class action and,
with the
2008 title race nearing its climax, once again fans can expect plenty
of thrills and spills.
Reigning
champion Fabrizio Giovanardi, aiming for a
second consecutive crown, will be hoping to break the backs of his
rivals after coming away from the previous rounds at Oulton Park in
Cheshire with a
handy points lead. But one slip could quickly hand the initiative back
to his closest rivals, namely SEAT's Jason Plato, the chasing BMW pair
of Colin
Turkington and Mat Jackson and Vauxhall team-mate Matt Neal.
Adding
further interest, local Scottish ace Gordon Shedden arrives back
at his home track on the crest of a wave having scored his second win
of the season last time out at Oulton Park. “The win was a big boost
for
the team. We are right at the sharp end of the field, and we just
needed a lucky break, which we got at Oulton Park. The win is a real
morale boost
for the team going into my home race at Knockhill," enthused the Team
Halfords Honda driver who will be hoping to maximize his local
knowledge to
improve on his current seventh place in the series standings.
Knockhill’s
ticket pricing structure makes BTCC race day great value for money.
Adults can purchase race day tickets
in advance for just £25.00, while admission is even better value for
families. That includes access to the BTCC paddock and morning Pit Lane
Walkabout session when the public can rub shoulders with the star
drivers from Britain's biggest motor racing championship. Weekend
tickets are also
available from £30 in advance and the circuit is also offering a
special ‘Fabulous Fortnight’ Double Ticket providing access to both the BTCC and the previous
weekend’s British
Superbike race meetings. Don’t miss out!
With
no fewer than 12 races on a spectacular Sunday schedule, the track
action starts at 09.15. Three BTCC races headline the bill, while
supporting categories will provide the crowds with a further nine races
to savour
during the day.
Tickets for Knockhill’s fabulous BTCC race day on Sunday 17 August are limited and should be
ordered in advanced either at https://app.e2ma.net/app/view:CampaignEdit/www.knockhill.com or by calling 01383 723337.
