Rob Collard has given the Motorbase
Performance BMW team a unique one-two after following in the footsteps of team-mate
Steven Kane to win HiQ’s coveted Champagne Moment award.
The Eversley speedster scooped the
championship sponsor’s prize for his stunning drive in race three at
Knockhill, when he secured a second place finish for the first time this
season.
Collard’s team mate Steven Kane
recently won the award for his second place showing at Snetterton, meaning
two of the four Champagne Moments so far have gone to the Motorbase drivers.
Collard polled 77 per cent of the
fans’ votes for a huge winning margin and will now be presented with a
bottle of champagne by Denise Thompson of the Wirral, who was picked at
random to present the award.
Denise will also win a bottle of bubbly, a
pair of tickets to the final BTCC round of racing at Brands Hatch and a grid
walk at Silverstone on Sunday.
HiQ launched the Champagne Moment
initiative in a bid to interact with spectators, who can log onto www.hiqonline.co.uk and vote for their
star performer after each HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship race
weekend.
HiQ is delighted with the success of the
award and is now urging fans to vote for their favourite driver from
Silverstone once the action has concluded on Sunday evening.

Motorbase Performance Team Driver Rob
Collard said:
“I’m delighted to have won the
Champagne Moment and overwhelmed by the number of people who voted for
me. It really is an honour to have your performance recognised by the
fans in this way and I want to thank everyone who voted for me. Good
things always seem to happen for me when I visit Knockhill and this award is
another one. My team mate Steven Kane has already won a Champagne
Moment award this season so we’re even now, and I hope we can repay all
the people who have supported us by giving them something to cheer about at
Silverstone this weekend.”
HiQ’s MSA British
Touring Car Championship spokesman James Bailey said:
“We couldn’t be happier with
our champagne moment. We are getting great feedback from the fans, and the
four winning drivers couldn’t be more deserving of the champagne, which
is great. We want our sponsorship to leave a positive impression on the
people that matter at the BTCC – the fans.”
