It did not take long for news of RML's move towards the Lola Coupé for its
on-going Le Mans sports prototype programme to break cover yesterday. Within
minutes of the unexpected appearance of the newly uprated MG Lola EX265C at
Snetterton, photographs and comments were already appearing widely across the
Internet.
The car's build had been kept a tight secret ever since the team made the
decision to follow this route, with even experienced
industry-watchers expressing surprise at confirmation that the sleek coupé
would be RML AD Group's LMP2 contender for the final round of this season's Le
Mans Series at Silverstone. It was not the choice, perhaps, that raised
eyebrows, but the timing and the successful secrecy.
Full details of the thoughts behind the decision, as well as a report on
Wednesday's successful shake-down test, are featured on the team's website. High
