Marcos Ambrose has finished his seventh NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in 36th position in the Camping World RV 400 at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City today. Ambrose qualified in 20th position on Friday in just the second Sprint Cup event for JTG Daugherty Racing. The Australian worked on the handling of his #47 Little Debbie Ford Fusion all race, gaining experience in his first Sprint Cup start at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway. Ambrose and crew chief Frank Kerr worked hard on improving the set-up of the Ford all race long, the 32-year-old persevering to bring the car home to the finish, despite a slight brush with the SAFER Barrier with 36 laps remaining. Jimmie Johnson won the Camping World RV 400 at Kansas Speedway today, ahead of Ford team-mates Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle. Ambrose will next be in action in two weeks time at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he will concentrate on Nationwide Series duties. QUOTES - MARCOS AMBROSE “The big thing for our Little Debbie team is to finish these races, get experience and learn what we can running against the best,” said Ambrose. “It was hard work out there today, but we brought it home to the finish. “We never really got the handling right. We kept working at it and working at it. We threw a lot at it but I had to really just do my best and drive around it. “We were competitive. We dropped a few spots at the end when we brushed the wall. “The long green flag runs hurt us. When your car isn’t going great and there are no cautions, you just have to hang on a try your best, but you go laps down. “We’ve learned some more things about our Little Debbie car. We are really punching above our weight just making the race, but we’re gaining experience and doing our best and improving all the time. “I’m really looking forward to this last stretch of races in both Sprint Cup and Nationwide, but first it will be nice to have a weekend off so I’m fresh for the last part of the season.” RESULTS: Camping World RV 400 at Kansas Speedway Race 3 in the 2008 Chase for the Sprint Cup (Series Race 29) 1. #48 Jimmie Johnson 267 laps 2. #99 Carl Edwards 3. #16 Greg Biffle 4. #24 Jeff Gordon 5. #17 Matt Kenseth 6. #29 Kevin Harvick 7. #31 Jeff Burton 8. #6 David Ragan 9. #84 AJ Allmendinger 10. #19 Elliott Sadler 36. #47 Marcos Ambrose 264 laps 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Standings – After Chase Race 3 (Series Race 29) 1.
