NEW SET OF WHEELS FOR ASSAILLIT AT BATHURST PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 08 October 2008
Fujitsu Racing driver Damian Assaillit has switched to a Matthew White Racing prepared Ford Falcon BA V8 Supercar for the Fujitsu V8 Series event at Mount Panorama on 9-11 October. Having run a Race Image Falcon through the first five rounds of the Fujitsu V8 Series, the decision to switch to the MWR chassis was made to enhance the team’s chances of breaking into the top-10. He currently sits 15th in the championship chase.

The Sunshine Coast racer took to the wheel of MWR Falcon at a test day at Winton recently.

“The car felt very strong,” said Assaillit.

“Matthew’s cars have been running very well this year and we strongly believe this car will provide the opportunity to make the step forward.

“The other major plus is having an experienced team back in the pits to ensure we get the most out of the car.

“Doing well at Bathurst is very important and with this car at our disposal we believe we can qualify towards the front, and then carry that through into the races.

“This race is sure to attract the largest entry of the year with around 40 cars expected to start the opening race of the weekend.

“Mount Panorama is the most challenging track in Australia, but I feel confident that it can bring the best result of the year.”

Cars hit the track for two practice session on Thursday. Friday includes qualifying and the opening 14-lap race. The second and final 14-lap race of the weekend for the Fujitsu V8 Series cars will be on Saturday.
