Irwin racing take to the track at Bathurst PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 09 October 2008
IRWIN Racing’s Marcus Marshall and Matt Halliday have completed a solid opening day’s practice for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

Marshall proved how good the package was with ninth place in the opening session. The other two sessions was more about refining the race package and giving Matt Halliday plenty of time in the car.

“The car has been very solid today,” said Marshall.

“We were concentrating on a race package and ensuring Matt got as much time as possible behind the wheel.

“A few changes tonight and we can look at qualifying somewhere in the top half of the field.
Halliday was pleased with his time behind the wheel.

“It was great to get back in a Supercar at Bathurst,” said Halliday.

“The car felt as good as anything I have had up here and that has me looking forward to the weekend.

“Marcus will handle the qualifying duties tomorrow and then we can focus 100% on the race.”

Race Engineer Marcus Clarke was pleased with the day.

“The car ran faultless and we made some improvements throughout the day,” said Clarke.

“Our base set-up is very good and we can make a few further tweaks for Marcus to set a good time in qualifying.

“It was good to give Matt plenty of time in the car today and he now feels more confident ahead of the weekend.

“Overall a very pleasing start to the weekend.”

IRWIN Racing is back on track at Mount Panorama tomorrow with back-to-back practice sessions from 9.20am then qualifying in the afternoon from 2.05pm.
