Leading
Motor Sports Group, SRO (Stephane Ratel Organisation) today announced that it
had sealed a number of key sponsorship agreements on behalf of its two
leading UK based domestic motor racing championships.
In a three
year deal, US tyre manufacturer Cooper Tire, will become the title sponsor
and tyre supplier for the prestigious British F3 International Series, which
is widely recognised as the toughest domestic single seater championship in
the world. The championship has produced champions and future
Formula 1 stars such as David Coulthard, Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello,
Mika Hakkinen and Ayrton Senna. The agreement will last through till the end
of the 2011 season.
SRO
has further concluded an agreement which sees Avon Tyres, owned and
manufactured by Cooper Tire, to extend their title sponsorship agreement with
the fast growing Avon Tyres British GT Championship. The British GT
Championship sees the super sports cars of Ferrari, Aston Martin, and
Lamborghini etc compete head-to-head at Britain’s leading circuits.
“We
have enjoyed the first three years of working with the British GT
Championship,” said Cooper Europe managing director, Julian Baldwin.
“The mix of cars and their very different handling characteristics
really tests our expertise, but so far our crew has risen to the challenge,
and they will relish another three seasons of doing so with a field of such
high-powered machinery. Cooper’s racing tyres deserve to be allied with
a high-profile championship in Europe and you don’t get much bigger
than British F3.”
Joining
Cooper Tire as an official partner of both championships will be motor sport
Insurance specialists AON who come onboard as a Series Partner.
Sam Pitman, Aon Private Clients
comments; “Aon have reached this agreement with SRO to extend our brand
and to offer a dedicated and specialist insurance service to its teams next
season. This is a fantastic opportunity for all to take advantage of the
services offered by Aon, one of the world’s largest insurance brokers.
Aon have a dedicated motor sport team that has many years of experience in
this specialist area and we look forward to working with the British F3 and
British GT paddock to provide the cover and service they require”
Stephane Ratel, SRO
Motorsports Group, adds; “SRO is delighted to announce these
partnerships. It is great news that both the British F3 International Series
and British GT Championship align with one of the worlds leading motor sport
Insurance providers. AON has a breadth of motor sport experience which our
competitors can benefit from.”
“We
all recognise that we are in a testing environment at the moment for
sponsorship, but we feel that these agreements constitute a fantastic
endorsement of our two British Championships which are both going from
strength to strength.”
