| TOP 10 SLIPS THROUGH AMBROSE FINGERS ON LONG NIGHT AT LOWES |

Marcos Ambrose has had a top 10 finish slip through his fingers to
finish 15th on a long night in the Dollar General 300 at Lowe’s Motor
Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend.
Ambrose
was in 11th place and on a charge when at a restart with six laps
remaining, the field checked up as they came to the green flag and
Ambrose was left with nowhere to go and collected Mike Bliss.
The collision knocked Ambrose back to 15th and damaged the front of the #59 Kingsford Tailgate Ford Fusion, ending a charge that saw the Australian climb up the order in the latter stages of the 200-lap race. Ambrose qualified seventh earlier today and ran in the top 10 for the entire opening stint before the first round of pit stops. From there Ambrose set about improving the handling of his Fusion with set-up changes at the pit stops to improve understeer. He ran in ninth place for much of the middle stages of the event, before a strategy gamble saw him complete an additional pit stop near the end of the race to ensure his car had enough fuel to last the distance if the race ran green to the end. In the end the gamble came to nothing as cautions hampered the final quarter of the event, but such was Ambrose’s pace that he charged up the order and was on the verge of the top 10 when he clipped Bliss in the final stages. Ambrose soldiered on to bring his damaged car home in 15th place and collect enough points to remain in the top 10 in the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series standings with four events remaining. Kyle Busch won today’s Dollar General 300 ahead of Jeff Burton and Brian Vickers in a race that was twice red flagged due to rain and finished well after midnight local Charlotte time. QUOTES - MARCOS AMBROSE “We had a really good night going, but we just got caught up there at the end,” said Ambrose. “I don’t know what was happening on those restarts and who was leading, but they were a mess. “Two or three times everyone was getting bunched up and people were pulling out of line and just one time too many I got caught up there and did some damage. “But we were looking good for a solid night. We missed it just a little bit on the front set-up there. We started hitting both springs, but, in general it was a big step forward. “I really enjoyed the race. It was a lot of fun and we raced well all night.” RESULTS: Dollar General 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway Race 31 in the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series 1. #18 Kyle Busch 200 laps 2. #29 Jeff Burton 3. #32 Brian Vickers 4. #2 Clint Bowyer 5. #60 Carl Edwards 6. #33 Kevin Harvick 7. #47 Kelly Bires 8. #88 Brad Keselowski 9. #17 Jamie McMurray 10. #7 Mike Wallace 15. #59 Marcos Ambrose RESULTS: Qualifying 1. #17 Jamie McMurray 29.267 2. #29 Jeff Burton 29.530 3. #60 Carl Edwards 29.648 4. #20 Joey Logano 29.682 5. #2 Clint Bowyer 29.848 6. #33 Kevin Harvick 29.849 7. #59 Marcos Ambrose 29.877 8. #10 Dave Blaney 29.911 9. #47 Kelly Bires 29.924 10. #5 Jimmie Johnson 29.980 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Standings – After Race 31 o! f 35 1.
