FRUSTRATED TRIMBLE NETS TOP 10 RESULT IN BATHURST V8 DEBUT PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 11 October 2008
Global Jet V8 Supercar driver Michael Trimble has netted a top 10 result from his first V8 Supercar event at the Mount Panorama circuit with eighth overall in Round 6 of the 2008 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series in Bathurst, New South Wales today. After eighth in yesterday's opening race, it was a frustrating day for Trimble in Race 2 as half of the 14-lap event was held under Safety Car conditions.

Trimble started from eighth position on a wet circuit, with the opening laps held behind the Safety Car. Once racing began the Gold Coast-based driver used his head to ensure he brought the #64 Global Jet Holden Commodore to the chequered flag in one piece, as others crashed around him.

Trimble's solid performance on his Bathurst V8 Supercar debut ensured that he finished eighth for the round and sits seventh in the 2008 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series standings with one round remaining.

Dean Canto won today's second race as well as the round overall, ahead of Jonathon Webb and Steve Owen.

The final round of the 2008 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series will be held at Oran Park Raceway in western Sydney on December 4-7.

WHAT HE HAD TO SAY …

Michael Trimble - #64 Global Jet Holden Commodore

"It is pretty disappointing to have everyone work so hard in the ten weeks since Winton only to miss out on almost half of our racing laps due to safety car periods," said Trimble.

"I really couldn’t believe some of the drivers further down the order sticking it into the wall bringing out the safety car on numerous occasions. I think we ended up having 14 racing laps out of the planned 28.

'We continually improved the Global Jet Commodore over the weekend and I think we could have finished inside the top five if we could just get more than one or two racing laps in a row.

"Racing a V8 Supercar around here is just something else, I can’t wait to get back here next year."
