Kurt Wimmer brought home his Global Trader Technologies Wilson Brothers Racing Holden Ute on the podium after an action packed weekend at Mount Panorama Bathurst.
After starting rear of grid for race one on Friday, Wimmer drove brilliantly all weekend long, picking up the hard charger award along the way for his efforts.
>From grid position four in today's final race, Wimmer jumped instantly into third place on the run into the first corner, where he was able to fend off the advances of Gary MacDonald and Gary Baxter.
On the final lap, Wimmer's Global Trader teammate Ryal Harris was able to sneak by going down Conrod Straight, to finish third behind Layton Crambrook and Kim Jane.
The WBR assisted Coopers Pale Ale Falcon Ute of Jack Elsegood also had a solid run, coming through the field to finish in sixth, after the crew worked hard after race two to bring the car onto the pace.
For WBR team principal Cameron Wilson, the Bathurst win and round podium cap off a brilliant few weeks for the team.
"To win with the Subaru in Tasmania, the Geminis at Morgan Park and now with the utes at Bathurst is just sensational," said Wilson.
"Kurt was on fire all weekend long, and to come from the rear of the grid to finish on the podium in only his second ever ute round bodes very well for the future.
"Jack meanwhile ran strongly all weekend, we need to find a bit more horsepower from his Falcon, but he should be a strong contender as always come Oran Park."
The 2008 V8 Ute series concludes at Oran Park Raceway in early December.
