ENTRIES CONFIRMED FOR FORMULA RENAULT UK WINTER SERIES

A total of 21 entries have been received so far for the 2006 Formula Renault UK Winter Championship with Michelin, which, for the first time, will have two separate classes. Drivers holding non-MSA racing licences are able to enter and will run in International Class, but will not be eligible to score points. MSA licence holders form the UK Class, which currently has 20 of the 21 drivers.

The Championship consists of four rounds held across two weekends next month. Rounds one and two take place at Kent’s Brands Hatch circuit on Sunday, 5th November, with a single 20-minute qualifying session on Saturday, 4th November. A single 20-minute qualifying session and rounds three and four are at Croft circuit, North Yorkshire on Saturday, 11th November.

Position 1 Racing’s Armaan Ebrahim (Woking) is one of only two registered drivers who completed the full 2006 Formula Renault UK season. The Indian A1GP driver is joined by Swiss racer Ronnie Theiler (Faversham) who raced in the Formula Renault UK finale at Silverstone, claiming a 17th place and a DNF on debut. Brazilian Claudio Cantelli Jnr is the third member of the team. Coles Racing’s Kris Loane (Kesh, Co Fermanagh) also raced at Silverstone and will make his second outing in a Formula Renault 2.0 car.

Several of the 2006 Formula Renault BARC field are registered, including new Champion Richard Singleton (Conway, Wales) with independent team RS Racing. Eurotek Motorsport’s Vice-Champion Jordan Oakes (Hopton, Norfolk) is entered, alongside fellow 17-year-old team-mate Emma Selway (Tring, Herts). CF Racing’s Hywel Lloyd (Corwen, Denbighshire) and Falcon Motorsport’s Dean Stoneman (Southampton) are the other racers to graduate from Formula Renault BARC.

Plenty of excitement will be generated by the arrival of three young karting graduates who have all impressed in the Renault Super One Karting Championship. Riki Christodoulou (Sutton Coldfield) is part of a three-strong entry from reigning Formula Renault UK Entrants Champion Fortec Motorsport and will be looking to impress after four years of success in Super One, including the 2003 Renault Formula JICA title. He is teamed with two champions at Fortec, American Formula TR Pro Series 2000 winner Carl Skerlong (Northampton) and Formula BMW UK winner Niall Breen (Dundalk).

AKA Lemac unveiled Jon Lancaster (Leeds) as part of its three-pronged entry, the 17-year-old finished seventh in the 2004 Renault Formula ICA Championship. One of his team-mates will be Adam Christodoulou (Lichfield, Staffs), cousin of Riki, who ranks second place in the 2004 Renault Formula JICA Championship among his karting achievements. Brazilian driver Adriano Buzaid (Oxford) completes the Leicestershire
