With
the economic uncertainty affecting all areas of business, including the
leisure industry, the organisers of the POWERnights Series have
decided to postpone the next events until further notice. The last event
held in August reached expectations, with high grid numbers and meeting the
target for the expected number of visitors.
“POWERnights
is all about providing a great show for the public, and we recognise the
importance of the drivers and their teams forming strong grids to make
POWERnights a success,” said POWERnights
Series Director Roger Etcell. “With rising costs, and a squeeze
on budgets, we are aware that all potential participants will be looking hard
at when and where they will compete next year. The races held at POWERnights
are non championship, invitation events and while POWERnights has received
positive feedback from all parties, we feel that in this economic climate we
may not be able to attract the number of entries necessary to make the
POWERnights events viable next season. Sponsorship is also a key element and
in these difficult times commercial commitment will be even tougher to
secure. We have therefore taken the hard decision to postpone the series
until there is an upturn in the economic outlook and return with a
POWERnights programme that will be even bigger and better. I’d like to
take the opportunity to thank our sponsors, partners, competitors, marshals
and spectators who have supported POWERnights and ask you all to keep an eye
on the event website at POWERnights.com for future announcements.”
