GLENFORDS GOES RACING INTO SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR
Glenfords Racing's V8 Supercar campaign reaches the six-month mark at Darwin's Hidden Valley round ready to build on the strong foundations laid in the first half of the year.
Team Principal Paul Cruickshank cited the first six-months as acceptable with the off-track operations ahead of schedule, while on-track the team has already secured their first top ten race result.
"While we announced Glenfords Racing officially in February, the team has been working flat out for the whole year on our V8 campaign and we're now heading into the second 6-month phase of the of our plans," Paul Cruickshank said.
"From an operational perspective, we're ahead of where we planned to be so that is encouraging and on the track we've had some strong results, including a ninth in race two at Winton where I thought the whole team did a really great job."
With the operational side of the Paul Cruickshank Racing run Glenfords team going full steam ahead, the team are now keen to translate that into further strong results on the track.
"The car has been improving every single race; we haven't taken a backward step in terms of car set-up and track speed this year so we are definitely all heading in the right direction," Glenfords AEG V8 driver Marcus Marshall said.
"We've had some strong showings but haven't quite been able to finish the job on occasions which has hurt our championship position but I think we are ready to start making some strong inroads in the second half of the year."
Heading into round five of the V8 Supercar Championship Series, the Glenfords Racing team tested at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday (June 20) and despite the constant changes in the weather made some strong improvements with the car's brake package ahead of their V8 debut at Hidden Valley.
"We have never been to Hidden Valley with the V8's but we are confident with the package we are taking to Hidden Valley. Many of us have been here in the past in various roles including preparing the New Zealand Porsche in 2003 which won and Marcus has done well here in the Carrera Cup so we are heading up to Darwin next week looking to get a strong result in all there races."
Round five of the V8 Supercar Championship, The Sky City Triple Crown at Hidden Valley, Darwin is from June 30-July 2.
