IMPRESSIVE BRATT SECURES TOP SIX START AT KNOCKHILL
Adderbury teenager Will Bratt enjoyed one of his, and Scorpio Motorsport’s, most impressive qualifying sessions of the Formula Renault UK season at Knockhill this afternoon ahead of rounds seven and eight of the 2006 championship.
The 18-year-old category race-winner, who is currently in the midst of essential A-level exams, made big strides forward from the pace shown during Friday’s test session at the Scottish circuit to record a brace of top 10 grid starts for tomorrow’s races.
Round seven qualifying proved to be the highlight of the weekend so far with a lap of 48.612 seconds (96.16mph) placing Will an excellent sixth fastest on the timesheets, just four 10ths of a second adrift of the pole position time and a mere 10th of a second away from the front row.
The second of the two qualifying sessions, determining the grid for round eight, saw Will place his Apotex Pharmaceuticals-backed car ninth on the timesheets with a quickest lap of 48.749 seconds (95.89mph), just behind Scorpio team-mate David Epton.
