TOUGH THRUXTON CHALLENGE AWAITS RACE-WINNER BRATT
Formula Renault UK sensation Will Bratt faces a tall order to repeat his race-winning performance of three weeks ago at Thruxton tomorrow, the 18-year-old frustrated after a challenging pair of qualifying sessions at the ultra-fast Hampshire circuit earlier today.
While confident there will be a number of overtaking opportunities during rounds five and six of the season at the 2.35-mile track tomorrow, the Adderbury sensation certainly has his work cut out to maintain fourth position in the championship standings, starting round five from 17th on the grid and round six from 11th position.
The Scorpio Motorsport ace struggled with grip problems throughout both of today’s sessions and after posting a best lap of 1m 11.255 seconds (119.03mph) during round five qualifying, a time of 1m 11.789 seconds (118.14mph) during the much hotter second session resulted in an improvement of six places on his earlier effort.
While overtaking is notoriously tricky in Formula Renault UK, Will is a true racer and if overnight changes to his Apotex Pharmaceuticals-backed car cure his handling troubles there is every chance he will be able to record some strong points-scoring finishes.
