Hi-Tech Motorsports finished the seventh round of the Yokohama with a podium finish for Fuchs/Ocean Beach Hotels Ford Falcon XR8 driver Kerry Wade. After a string of fourths including qualifying and two races, Wade was fourth for over half the race before a great move on series title contender Jack Elsegood moved him to third.

“I was able to use the ‘over and under’ move at ANA and held the inside running through the next corner and up the back straight,” reported Wade. He was then able to close on the Fords in front of him, and was line astern behind race winner Damien White and Marcus Zukanovic at the finish.

Team mate Grant Johnson who started eighth, also had his best result for the weekend in the Grove Juices Holden Commodore SS. Not only was he the first Holden driver to finish but he was able to pick up three positions on the final lap to be fourth outright.

He was squeezed and overran at the Holiday Inn corner, falling well down the field. In a remarkable pickup, he was thirteenth at the end of the opening lap, and continued to charge up the order, recording the fastest lap of the race in the process.

Third of the Hi-Tech Motorsports compliment of five was the Legrand Ford Falcon XR8 of Scott Jennings. Jennings who won race two started from position five but was eleventh at the end of the first lap after being shuffled down the order. He remained there, skillfully edging out Matt Kingsley’s Holden at the flag.

Matt Moorhead dropped to a distant last following an aggressive muscling out stint by a line of his rivals on the opening lap in the Romanza Properties/DEL Lawyers Ford Falcon. He placing looked worse as he was docked thirty seconds for jumping kerbs.

From position thirty on the grid, Greg Willis who is still finding his way in V8 Ute Racing, drove sensibly and picked up four positions during the course of the wet and difficult race and was right on the back of the Denis Cribbin Falcon at the flag.
