Glenfords Racing's Indy debut has continued to get better and better.
The week began well with the team's remarkable performance in preparing the car from the ground up after Bathurst before Alex Davison, driving the Glenfords-DeWalt GT# Cup Car, set pole position yesterday and then took out race one in the Carrera Cup Championship.
Team mates Jonathon Webb in the Glenfords-Makita Porsche and David Wall in his Glenfords-Hitachi GT3 finished fifth and eighth in another brilliant team performance.
Today, the Ford Glenfords-AEG V8 Supercar of Marcus Marshall got off to a strong start setting the 24th fastest time in practice, a notable effort given the Gold Coast local had never driven the car before.
Marshall then put the V8 on grid position 23 after an outstanding qualifying effort that netted the team their best grid position ever.
While many cars felt the full impact of the tight Surfers Paradise Street Circuit's walls, Marshall skilfully kept the car straight, delivering the team a well deserved season best.
As the heat began to subside, the Glenfords Racing's day again got even better with the Carrera Cup team finishing with all three cars inside the top seven, the highlight without doubt being Davison's start to finish victory to make it two in a row.
Davison capped off the fine afternoon with a new Carrera Cup lap record of 1:53.9104.
Team owner Paul Cruickshank was delighted with the team's performance on a weekend that he thought would be a test for the team.
"It's been a great start for the whole team which is the most satisfying thing.every member of our team is performing and to have our best qualifying performance in the V8's in a car that the boys worked do hard to get ready is a great effort," Paul Cruickshank said.
"The Carrera Cup team has been outstanding all season and have continually had all three cars well inside the top ten.
"Alex is having a perfect round to date with pole, race wins and a new lap record so hopefully the good form can continue into the weekend."
The Glenfords Racing team tomorrow have race one of the V8 Supercars at 4.00pm while the Carrera Cup team have their final race on Sunday when the final two V8 Supercar races will also be run.
