Jarama: A good week-end for Racing Engineering

Sergio Jimenez got his first ever win in the Spanish F3 championship yesterday after race 1, and a second place today. Miguel Molina forgot his difficult start of the season with a brilliant third place today after race 2.

Sergio Jimenez had a great week-end in Jarama for the third round of the Spanish F3 championship. He overtook poleman Cortes at the first corner of race 1 and cruised to victory. Today, he started from the middle of the grid and finally clinched second position behind the new championship leader, Risatti. Sergio had a little tyre pressure problem : he decided to stay behind the leader and not to take risks.

Miguel Molina finished fourth yesterday but a decision from the stewards meant that he was 14th in the final classification. Today, he finished 3rd: this is his best result this season, and Miguel hopes that bad luck is now a bad memory. Nicolas Prost, on the other hand, had a difficult week-end. Yesterday, his race was over on lap 2 after a collision with Ignacio. As a result, he started from the bottom of the grid today. Finally, Marco Martinez had a mechanical problem on Saturday and had to retire. On race 2, he was 16th on the grid and finished 8th.

Sergio Jimenez: "I had two great races. The car was good and I'm feeling more and more comfortable. Now, I'm second in the championship and this is very important. I could have tried to get first place on race 2, but I had to stay clam because of a tyre pressure problem. I got the points and I can think about the championship, so this is good."

Miguel Molina: "Yesterday, I had a very good race but I lost my 4th position. Today has been difficult, but I finally got my first podium. It's great and I want to dedicate it to the team: we had so many problems since the start of the season that it's good to be back ontop. I'm really happy."

Nicolas Prost: "A very difficult week-end for me. Yesterday, a stupid move from a rival put my race to an end. I was so far back on the grid today that I could not expect anything. It's a week-end to forget."

Marcos Martinez: "It's a shame. I had a mechanical problem yesterday and could not finish the race. Today, I wanted to overtake a lot of people, especially the B-class, but I soon realised that the quicker cars were far away when I got to 8th position."

Alfonso de Orleans, Team Principal, "First of all, I'd like to congratulate Miguel Molina: he deserves this podium. Of course, I am very happy for Sergio Jimenez: he had the pace all week-end. He's a clear title contender and he showed it this week-end. Nicolas Prost and Marcos Martinez had a bit of bad luck, especially Nicolas: his week-end was ruined when another car hit him at the start of race 1. These things can happen though…The team, as usual, did a great job. Our people are fantastic.",",1,1,0,1,"2006-05-21 07:10:37
