Wade Heads Up Hi-tech Assault PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 20 October 2006
West Australian Kerry Wade finished best of the five Hi-Tech Motorsports in race one of the Yokohama V8 Ute Racing series on the Gold Coast yesterday.

Driving the Fuchs/Ocean Beach Hotels Ford Falcon XR8 to fourth place in an incident-shortened event, he vied with three other Fords (race winner Marcus Zukanovic, Damien White and Jack Elsegood) for the lead of the race, forging well clear of the ensuing battle for fifth which involved fellow state resident and team mate Grant Johnson.

Johnson was the second Holden to finish, his Grove Juices Commodore SS in sixth just behind the fellow Holden of Gary Baxter and just ahead of the Yannis Derums and James Brock Holdens and Darren Palmers’ Ford.

Just adrift of that quintet was the third of the Hi-Tech Motorsports entries, the Legrand Ford Falcon XR8 of Scott Jennings. A tenth position finish means pole for today’s second reverse top ten second race.

The early race stoppage (and the result posted as they were on lap three) was fortunate for Matt Moorhead in the Romanza Properties Ford Falcon XR8 which picked up puncture on the fourth lap.

Not so lucky was Greg Willis in the Grove Juices Ford Falcon XR8 which actually picked up places on the fourth tour but had them taken away with the early declaration.

The Hi-Tech Motorsports team is upbeat for this afternoon’s 4:45 pm hitout with Jennings on pole.

“The last time (Wakefield Park) Scott started on pole he had a good win,” said team principle John “Barrel” Pachos.

Johnson will be off the third row out of position five while Wade a further row back on grid number seven. Moorhead is just out of the ten on thirteen while Willis starts 29th.
