Four of the Hi-Tech Motorsports V8 Utes have qualified in the top dozen for round seven of the Yokohama V8 Ute Racing series on the streets of Surfers Paradise today.
Heading the five car lineup is West Australia’s Kerry Wade in the OBH Ford Falcon XR8 who was fourth fastest. Good friend and fellow traveler from the west Grant Johnson is two positions away in sixth aboard the Grove Juices Holden Commodore SS.
Also jumping into the top ten is Scott Jennings, ninth in the Legrande Ford Falcon XR8 while the similar Romanza Properties machine of Matt Moorhead will be a sixth row starter in twelfth, and on the back of a successful Indy Rally, Greg Willis eased the Grove Juices Ford Falcon XR8 to 29th.
“Its been a hectic lead up for us,” said team principle John “Barrel”
Pachos “as we had a really successful drive day out at Queensland
Raceway last weekend for Grove Juices and Fuchs – we managed to get 190
people out there with two cars operating.”
“So far everyone is reasonably happy with their performances apart from
Matt who was pushed into a wall by Ryal Harris in practice,” he added.
Johnson also felt the brush of concrete on metal but admitted that it
was all his own doing. “The Falcons have more in a straight line than
the Holdens as they are compensated around 30 more horsepower for their
additional weight,” Johnson said.
Hi-Tech Motorsports has the largest compliment of V8 Utes this weekend
with five cars managed by a total personnel of around 20 – well away
from their western Sydney base.
