BERGMEISTER TAKES CLASS 2ND IN GT2 QUALIFYING ON YOKOHAMA ADVAN
GT2 runners Seikel Motorsport have a points finish in view after Tim Bergmeister set a fantastic qualifying time in the Porsche 911 GT3-RSR. The track was starting to dry for GT qualifying and the Yokohama cut-slicks suited his driving and the track conditions well as once again Spa’s notorious weather was a determining factor in on-track performance. The Seikel Motorsport entry will start tomorrow’s race second in GT2 and 25th overall.
LMP qualifying was fully wet for both Courage Competition cars. Yokohama front runners Jean-Marc Gounon qualified fifth. The no.12 Courage of Gounon and Alex Frei had put in three good official practices which showed that they were on the pace, notching up a 1st, 2nd and 6th in the sessions. The other Yokohama-shod Courage, driven by Shinji Nakano and Haruki Kurosawa wasn’t too far behind. They were fourth fastest in all three practice sessions but in the wet of qualifying Kurosawa managed a ninth place to put them on the fifth row of the grid.
The six hour race starts at 12.30 on Sunday. (All times are local/ CET). Extensive coverage to follow the progress of the Yokohama teams is on www.lmes.net and the race is shown tomorrow evening on Motors TV at 20.00 CET.
