TOP SIX FOR METCALFE IN OULTON TEST
Hampshire Formula Renault UK ace Jeremy Metcalfe heads into the third and fourth rounds of the season at Oulton Park this weekend bidding for his first victory of 2006 and after ending today’s pre-race test inside the top six, his plans remain firmly on course.
The 18-year-old AKA Lemac driver, who is backed this year by key sponsor BillChaser, concluded the first of the day’s two 45-minute test sessions with the sixth fastest time, a lap of 1m 20.069 seconds (100.08mph) placing him well within striking distance of his fellow front-runners.
While the morning session was conducted in sunny and dry conditions, rainfall affected the afternoon test so none of the 27 drivers present were able to improve on their times from the earlier outing. Jeremy completed just eight laps during session two, very little likely to be gained from pounding round the 2.2-mile Island configuration in the wet.
