Reid took her Van Diemen RF 03 to 10th, 9th and 13th place finishes respectively at the Clipsal 500, scoring her first ever Australian Formula Ford Championship points in the process and impressing many with her continual improvement towards the front of the field.
Reid sits 15th in the championship following the opening round, only 10 points outside the ultra-competitive Formula Ford top 10.
Following her promising performance at her home round, Reid and her team have completed significant development work on the team’s Van Diemen – paying close attention to the suspension and Damper setup that should see the car even more competitive in the West.
“We have completed a lot of work doing some development on the Damper settings and the suspension,” she explained.
“The car was pretty good at Clipsal but in this series you always have to move forward and keep improving things on the car. Hopefully the work we have done will see us move up the order at Barbagello.”
Reid added that she hoped to move up the order this weekend, looking to pick up where they left off at the Clipsal 500.
“I think a top ten is a very realistic aim for us this weekend,” she said.
“What we really need is to have a good run through practice and qualifying to ensure we get as many laps as possible. If we can keep the car out of the sand I think we will be in a good position before the races.”
“I think that I can get inside the top ten this weekend,” She added.
“If we can qualify inside the top 18 and make good progress throughout the races it will be excellent. Scoring some more championship points is the aim and if we can continue to improve it will have been a good weekend.” Reid said.
Round two of the 2006 Australian Formula Ford Championship gets underway at Barbagello Raceway on Friday with Practice, before qualifying and races throughout Saturday and Sunday as part of this weekends V8 Supercar round in Perth.
